Last summer we partnered with community organizations and other local churches across multiple denominations with the mutual goal of showing children and families the love of Christ at a local income based housing complex (with our middle and high schoolers serving alongside)! It was incredible to see God work through the fun of bounce houses, face painting, and the sharing of His love and word—we can’t wait for this Summer!.
Truly, what the enemy meant for evil, God can use for good and that is exactly what he is doing in Ukraine through our church family in Kyiv. From the beginning of the war all four churches mobilized to not only work to get their church members to safety but also serve their countrymen and women. Over 2 tons of humanitarian aid is being distributed daily across the four churches, many of the men and women go weekly on supply and relief runs transporting aid and supplies to the front lines and rescuing women and children from the hot zones bringing them to safety. On top of all the relief and refugee work being done, the churches are continue to bring the light of the gospel in this dark time. God’s Design church has grown by over 300% since the war broke out, Boryspol Bible church has become a leader in front line support and continues to minister weekly in one of the most dangerous zones near the airport, much of God’s Family church has relocated to Germany and those who remain have started bible studies with soldiers on the front lines, and Transformation Church has given out over 5,000 Bibles, distrubuted over 40 tons of humanitarian aid, seen over 3,000 new people visit the church and baptized over 20 people in the middle of war.
Our incredible volunteers and staff got together in the summer heat and blessed one of our local members with a home refresh. Ms. Emily came to us needing help with a few lawn projects, but our team got together and with their hard work and talents, they were able to completely remodel all aspects of her yard and porch. One gentleman mowed, another weedeated, some pressure washed, another made her sidewalk usable again, some ladies created a beautiful flower bed, and that's just the beginning. It's a beautiful thing when community and purpose intersect, and like Ms. Emily's yard, it's amazing what can happen when something old and neglected becomes new and restored again.
We were able to use the downtown South Haven coffee shop to consistently host music and spoken word events that encouraged and brought the hope of Jesus to our community!
We hosted an End-of-Year Awards Dinner for the entire staff of Ken-O-Sha Elementary, a local low-income school that we support year-round. TLC attendees rallied around to support the event, allowing us to shower the staff with love and appreciation at a special venue: the Greenhouse of GR's Downtown Market. The night was filled with a delicious dinner, craft soda bar, giveaways, "Cubbie Awards" from the principal and peers, and so much more.
The school staff left feeling so encouraged, and have expressed appreciation of TLC's partnership to make the school a great place to work and attend. This was such a great way to bless this school that we love so much!
Overflow hosted several hundred people in the Benton Harbor and St. Joseph area in September 2021 for a fun Movie event! The fun started in the afternoon with local food trucks available and bounces houses for the kids! As the evening came, the movie began and families snuggled together to watch Space Jam: A New Legacy. It was an amazing time to connect with community and friends.
Though the pandemic was very hard on the church and they weren’t able to gather for almost 2 years, Pastor Phanna and the members continued serving their church members and community by partnering with local authorities to bring food and supplies to people who otherwise could have starved. On top of feeding the hungry and bringing medicine to the sick all throughout the pandemic, Hope and Life has begun regathering for worship services as well as restarting their soccer outreach ministry to underprivileged youth in the community. With hundreds of people fed, over 20 Buddhist coming to faith and baptized this year and many others coming to faith in the congregation, God continues to do amazing things through Hope and Life Church in Cambodia.
As Jamaica slowly emerged from the pandemic ZEAL pressed on to continue to minister through weekly online services and digital small groups. After over 2 and a half years of online ministry ZEAL was able to hold two in person services over the past year where we saw so many of our faith family regather with tears of joy. In attendance at our Christmas gathering we were blessed to welcome and minister women who work in the sex industry. After worshiping and hearing the word preached one of the women said with tears in her eyes, “I haven’t been to church since I was a little girl. I never thought I could step back into a church. It felt good to be back.”
Praise God, as of May 2022 ZEAL began regathering regularly and throughout the course of the past year we celebrate that we had record attendance online and in small groups!
Pangrango Church in Bogor Indonesia has seen God move in amazing ways this past year. As Indonesia continues to emerge from the pandemic Pangrango not only fed and brought medicine to hundreds of hurting people in their community, but also pressed on with services seeing over 500 people attend their Christmas and Easter services this year! With so many coming to faith, we are celebrating with them as 14 people took the step of baptism since January! They have outgrown their current facility so we are praying for favor as we search for a larger venue for the church to call home in the coming years.
